Art for snow leopard conservation

Snow leopard is considered to be an enigmatic and highly elusive animal; at the same time this majestic animal is under threat of getting extinct. An art exhibition titled ‘Art for Snow Leopard Conservation’ was launched at Gallery 6 in Islamabad on February 07, 2019. The three-day art exhibition is being organized jointly by Snow Leopard Foundation (SLF) and Gallery 6 in collaboration with Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic H.E. Mr. Erik Beishembiev was the chief guest at the launching ceremony. While speaking with the guests, the Honorable Ambassador appreciated the effort of all the artists and praised the quality of work on display. He thanked Gallery 6 and SLF management for organizing the activity for awareness and education on snow leopard conservation. The launching ceremony was attended by diplomats, dignitaries and art followers from twin cities.

The chief coordinator and organizer of the exhibition, Syed Abu Ahmad Akif shared details and background of the exhibition and the concept of sending our message in the form of art regarding the challenges and risks faced by snow leopards in their habitats. The exhibition intends to motivate and engage more and more people in efforts of saving snow leopards and its landscape. Artwork in the form of paintings, photographs and sculpture is exhibited by some young and talented artists. The exhibition is open for public on Saturday and Sunday.

Snow Leopard Foundation is a non-profit organization working for the conservation of snow leopards, associated species and the ecosystems in Himalayas, Karakoram Pamir and Hindukush regions of Pakistan.
