Celebrating the International Day for Biosphere Reserves with the Bashqar-Garumchashma Community

Chitral The Chitral Wildlife Division, Chitral Gol National Park, and the Snow Leopard Foundation came together to celebrate the International Day for Biosphere Reserves 2024 with the vibrant Bashqar-Garumchashma biosphere reserve community on November 3rd.

This global day, observed annually, highlights the vital importance of biosphere reserves—unique areas that harmonize human activity with the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable development. These reserves are a cornerstone of UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme, promoting the integration of ecological, cultural, and economic values to achieve global sustainable development goals.

The event was designed to actively involve the local community, youth, and conservation champions from the region. Representatives from the Chitral Wildlife Division, Chitral Gol National Park, and the Snow Leopard Foundation shared insights into the critical role of biosphere reserves in balancing the preservation of natural ecosystems with economic growth.
