The Snow Leopard Foundation (SLF) in Gilgit-Baltistan is facilitating the Parks and Wildlife Department in community mobilization and other necessary arrangements for the implementation of wildlife component of the Green Pakistan Program (GPP) in Gilgit-Baltistan Province.
The cheque distribution ceremony of Livestock Insurance Scheme (LIS) was jointly organized by SLF and GPP team on 14th May 2019 in Hanzal Village. Secretary Forest, Wildlife and Environment Gilgit Baltistan Mr. Asifullah Khan was the chief guest at the ceremony. The Community Leader/ General Secretary of the Valley Conservation Committee formally welcomed the Chief Guest and all other guests in the ceremony.
He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to senior-level government officials for their visit to the Hanzal Community and fulfilling a long outstanding demand of the Hanzal community regarding the implementation of the Livestock Insurance Scheme (LIS). Livelihood Specialist/Acting RPM SLF GB, Mr. Khalil Ahmed shared brief information regarding SLF and its activities in Gilgit-Baltistan. He further explained the background of the MoU signed between the SLF and the Parks & Wildlife Department regarding Wildlife Component of the Green Pakistan Program (GPP) in GB. He also thanked all the senior officials of the department for being present in the cheque distribution ceremony.
The Chief Guest presented the cheque of Rs. 300,000 to the Hanzal Community as a GPP share in the scheme. In his address, the Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of the Hanzal community for being active partners in the conservation efforts as one of the key stakeholders in the area.
