Ministry of Climate Change support for SLF initiatives

Snow Leopard Foundation (SLF) delegation led by Director SLF Dr. Muhammad Ali Nawaz held meeting with the Advisor to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, Mr. Malik Amin Aslam in his office at Ministry of Climate Change Islamabad.

The SLF team apprised the Honorable Advisor with the progress of the ecotourism project and shared details about the proposed work plan and activities planned for tourists in Hopar valley. A short documentary about the potential of ecotourism in Hopar valley was also screened. The SLF delegation informed the Honorable Advisor that the site will be designed to attract and entertain local as well as international tourists.

The Honorable Advisor appreciated SLF for all the initiatives taken for snow leopard conservation and particularly for the protection of ecosystem and community support programs including ecotourism. The National Project Director PSLEP/ Joint Secretary Ministry of Climate Change Mr. Suleyman Khan Warraich was also present in the meeting.

This initiative is part of SLF’s project Pakistan Snow Leopard and Ecosystem Protection Program (PSLEP). Hopar is one of the four ecotourism sites to be developed in 2019 by SLF through the PSLEP project. Other members of the SLF delegation included Mr. Ashiq Ahmad Khan, Mr. Jaffar Ud Din and Moiz Rafi.
