New Livelihood Initiatives in AJ&K Under PSLEP Project

Mr. Javaid Ayub Secretary Wildlife and Fisheries Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir visited Snow Leopard Foundation Head Office today. Mr. Jaffar Ud Din National Project Manager PSLEP received the distinguished guest. The Honorable Secretary was briefed about GEF funded Pakistan Snow Leopard and Ecosystem Protection Program (PSLEP) project activities in AJ&K. Apart from other project interventions, the development of conservation tourism site in Gurez valley was discussed in detail.

The documentary on first conservation tourism site being developed in Hopper valley Gilgit Baltistan was also screened to explain the concept and objectives of this community livelihood improvement initiative by SLF under PSLEP project. Later, Mr. Tayyab Shahzad shared the outline of another livelihood improvement initiative which will be implemented as part of local community women skills enhance under PSLEP social enterprise development program.

The Honorable Secretary appreciated all the interventions by SLF/ PSLEP in AJ&K and contributing in the snow leopard conservation. He showed keen interest in the livelihood initiatives and offered full support from his department. A meeting regarding the planning and execution of these initiatives will be held with Honorable Secretary at his office in coming days.
