Wildlife Crime Scene Investigation Training Successfully Concludes in Chitral

Chitral – February 21, 2025: A three-day training on Disruption of Poaching and Wildlife Crime Scene Investigation successfully concluded in Chitral on February 20, 2025. Organized by the Snow Leopard Foundation (SLF) in collaboration with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department, the training aimed to enhance the capacity of twelve wildlife officers and field staff in crime prevention and first response. The initiative was funded by the UK Government through the Illegal Wildlife Trade Challenge Fund (IWTCF).

The training combined theoretical sessions with hands-on exercises, equipping participants with essential skills for handling poaching cases, investigating wildlife crime scenes, and responding effectively to wildlife emergencies. The closing ceremony was attended by key officials, including Mr. Rizwan Ullah Yousufzai, DFO Chitral Gol National Park, and Mr. Farooq Nabi, DFO Wildlife Division Chitral, who commended SLF for its efforts in strengthening wildlife protection.

Certificates and field kits were distributed to trainees, and two Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) kits were provided to Chitral Gol National Park and Wildlife Division Chitral to enhance enforcement capabilities. This initiative builds on previous training efforts, ensuring wildlife staff across the snow leopard range are better equipped to combat wildlife crime.
