Dr. Muhammad Rafique

Dr. Muhammad Rafique is a senior Pakistani expert in aquatic biodiversity, freshwater fisheries, wetland ecology, environmental flows, and natural resource management, with more than 40 years of professional experience. He holds a Ph.D. in Biosystematics and Distribution of Freshwater Fishes of Pakistan and has served in leading scientific and administrative positions at the Pakistan Museum of Natural History and Pakistan Science Foundation, including Director General of the Museum. Widely recognized for his expertise in freshwater fish diversity, aquatic ecology, biodiversity conservation, and environmental assessments, he has led and contributed to major hydropower, wetland, and infrastructure projects across Pakistan and the region in collaboration with organizations such as the Asian Development Bank, IFC, UNDP, WWF-Pakistan, and IUCN. He has published extensively on fish taxonomy, biodiversity, and aquatic ecosystems, edited Biodiversity of Pakistan, and currently serves as Chairman of the Snow Leopard Foundation-Pakistan Board of Governors.

Dr. Nawaz holds a PhD in Wildlife Ecology with over 20 years of experience in wildlife research and conservation. His research is guided by a profound connection to the natural world and a dedication to understanding the complexities of ecological systems. His work centers on generating actionable knowledge to support the development of effective management strategies aimed at conserving endangered species and maintaining ecosystem integrity. His research, published in esteemed journals, covers a diverse range of focus areas including methodological advancements, species distribution, population and community ecology, human-wildlife interactions, and the adaptations of species to climate change and extreme environments. His work also evaluates conservation practices and examines resource selection by animals to inform policy and on-the-ground conservation efforts.
Dr. Syed Murtaza Hassan Andrabi

Dr. Syed Murtaza Hassan Andrabi is a distinguished animal scientist, policy expert, and public sector leader with extensive experience in livestock development, veterinary sciences, agricultural research, and institutional governance in Pakistan. Serving in a senior leadership role at the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council, he has contributed significantly to livestock policy formulation, research management, strategic planning, and national agricultural development initiatives. His expertise spans animal breeding, genetic improvement, livestock production systems, veterinary public health, food security, and sustainable agriculture. He has played important roles in livestock sector reforms, animal genetic resource development, transboundary disease management, and institutional strengthening, while actively contributing to scientific assessments, policy advisory processes, and national and international collaborations in agriculture and rural development.
Dr. Muhammad Ismail

Dr. Muhammad Ismail Bhatti is a distinguished Pakistani mycologist, plant pathologist, and biological control expert serving as Curator (Mycology) at the Pakistan Museum of Natural History. With specialized expertise in edible and medicinal mushrooms, entomopathogenic nematodes, integrated pest management, and sustainable agriculture, he has contributed extensively to biodiversity conservation, farmer training, and eco-friendly agricultural practices across Pakistan. Dr. Bhatti has trained thousands of farmers and agricultural professionals, published numerous scientific articles, developed practical community-based initiatives, and led research on bio-fertilizers and natural pest control. His work focuses on promoting sustainable agriculture, fungal biodiversity conservation, and environmentally responsible alternatives to chemical pesticides.
Prof. Dr. Amina Zuberi

Prof. Dr. Amina Zuberi is a renowned fisheries scientist and former Chairperson of the Department of Zoology at Quaid-i-Azam University, with nearly 30 years of experience in fisheries, aquaculture, and aquatic biology research. She holds a PhD in Fish Physiology and Endocrinology and completed postdoctoral training in the USA and Australia, focusing on fish genetics, nutrition, and behavior. She has established advanced fisheries research facilities, supervised over 100 graduate scholars, and led multiple national and international research projects. Her work includes innovations in fish nutrition, genetic improvement, disease-resistant aquaculture, and conservation of endangered species such as Mahseer. With over 80 scientific publications, she remains an influential figure in fisheries science, education, and policy development in Pakistan.

Mr. Adil Ameen is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Management Accountants of Pakistan and a Senior Partner at Shahzad Adil and Co. He also serves as a director in various companies. With more than 30 years of diversified professional experience in Financial Management and Accounting, Taxation, Corporate and Secretarial Services, Audit, Business Consultancy, and Outsourcing Services, he has contributed significantly to the corporate and financial sectors through leadership, professional expertise, and advisory services. He has also served as Chairman of the Islamabad Branch Council of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan, where he played an active role in promoting the accounting profession and professional development initiatives.

Mr. Zahid Baig Mirza — widely known as Z. B. Mirza — was one of Pakistan’s most eminent wildlife and biodiversity ecologists, with a remarkable career spanning over 66 years dedicated to wildlife research, conservation, and environmental education. He began his professional work in 1957 and made extensive contributions through field-based ecological research across Pakistan, authoring 26 books, numerous technical reports, management plans, EIAs, and over 50 scientific papers. As the first Director of the Pakistan Museum of Natural History, he played a pioneering role in building national capacity in natural history research, specimen documentation, and scientific training, while mentoring generations of conservation scientists. A gifted naturalist and artist, he illustrated many of his own publications and contributed visual materials for museum dioramas and educational outreach. His conservation legacy includes key species reintroduction programs such as blackbuck and cheer pheasant. His lifelong contributions are honoured through the Z. B. Mirza Biodiversity (Animal) Gold Medal, awarded annually by the Zoological Society of Pakistan.
