The Snow Leopard Foundation (SLF) is a nonprofit conservation organization registered with the Security Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) under Companies Act 2017 and is aimed to conserve viable populations of snow leopards and other wild carnivores as an integral part of landscapes across Pakistan, while improving the economic conditions of the people who share habitats with predators. Since its inception, SLF has been working with remote and disadvantaged mountain communities in the range provinces focusing on four thematic areas—science and research, community-based conservation, capacity building, and conservation education & awareness.
SLF intends to hire the services of a female Social Organizer (On Fixed Terms Basis).
Major duties and responsibilities:
The social organizer will be a part of the Snow Leopard Enterprises program where she will be responsible for the following:
- Visit 3-4 times in each of the planned 7 SLE sites or as decided by the regional management (along with the SLE/ regional team) to visit women CBO meetings, identify target group for the SLE baseline surveys and lead selection of 16 artisans for the SLE training as the outcome of the SLE baseline developed.
- Lead identification of product lines, costing, procumbent of raw material and related accessories and identification of trainer in collaboration with the SLE/Regional team.
- Monitor the training in coordination with the SLE/Regional team by making three visits i.e., at the start, mid and final day of the training to ensure quality control.
- Support SLE/Regional team develop training report and collect samples.
- Lead identification of regional market for the product lines, place orders, procure material and monitor production (in collaboration with SLE/Regional Team).
- Liaison with the vendors and artisans for collection and shipment of products, collect revenue and payment to the artisans in collaboration with the regional team.
Expected Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in any social sciences field such as sociology, anthropology, mass communication, or other related subjects.
- At least 2-3 years of experience working with artisans and product development using local craft in the GB area
- Previous experience of having worked with vendors
- Experience in sales, marketing and know-how of local markets as well
- Aptitude for community work and group management
- Dynamic working skills and ability to work under long and difficult work
- Good communication skills;
- Fluent in writing and speaking in English and Urdu;
- Ready to work, live and travel in an intricate and strenuous environment
